There are young people everywhere doing beautiful things when no one is watching.

Like the student who notices the child sitting alone and quietly makes room at the table. The teammate who cheers just as loudly for someone else as they do for themselves. The friend who senses that something is wrong and stays a little longer. The young person who chooses kindness when indifference would be easier, courage when silence would be safer, and compassion when no one would have blamed them for simply walking by.

Those are the kids we want to find.

We want to celebrate them. We want to lift them up. And we want them to know that character matters — deeply. That kindness is not small. That heart is not soft. That the way you make other people feel may become one of the most important things you ever give this world.

Through scholarships, awards and other opportunities, The Sheridan Gorman Foundation will recognize young people who demonstrate compassion, courage, inclusion, service, leadership and heart.

​

Not necessarily the student with the highest GPA. Not always the best athlete. We are looking for the ones with an EXTRAVAGANT HEART.

The ones who notice. The ones who include. The ones who show up.

The ones who see someone sitting on a Buddy Bench and do not walk past, they instead walk over and they sit down.

Because that was Sheridan. And we believe the world needs more young people just like her.
